IHCC had another highly successful year in 2023, achieving significant growth and delivering high-profile projects that have enhanced infrastructure across the region. On this occasion, IHCC CEO and Chairman Sultan Batterjee highlights some of the company’s standout achievements over the past 12 months: “One of our most impactful accomplishments in 2023 was the completion of a mega 300-bed medical city in Alexandria, Egypt earlier this year which inaugurated by Egypt’s Prime Minister, his excellency Mr. Mostafa Madbouly,” he says.
The project encompassed various healthcare facilities across an impressive 90,000 sq m, where IHCC delivered this landmark undertaking on a turnkey basis, overseeing all civil, mechanical, electrical and plumbing works as well as interior fit-outs and medical equipment installations. Another major achievement was the delivery of the huge Centre of Excellence project in Dubai “Batterjee Medical City”, which involved constructing four state-of-the-art medical buildings with a combined area of 85,000 sq m. This development has strengthened Dubai’s position as a regional hub for healthcare excellence.
Beyond delivering landmark projects, IHCC has also secured new exclusive contracts and commenced work on diverse ventures throughout 2023, including the five luxury developments for Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, as well as an exclusive partnership with ASFAR, to develop a state of the art five-star wellness resort in Taif. IHCC has also broken ground on mixed-use complexes, commercial towers, educational institutions and more across Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt and the MENA region.
IHCC’s success journey continues to attract key partnerships with highly respected bodies, as it has established specialised and dedicated business units such as MEP, Fitout, Facilities Management, Design, Investments & PPPs, and Energy Efficiency & Sustainability. This strategic approach allows IHCC to offer a diverse range of expertise and integrated services, meeting the unique needs and requirements of each project.
Batterjee also mentions the multiple awards received for the exemplary Centre of Excellence in Dubai as well as renovations and expansion to the prestigious Riyadh Saudi German Hospital awarded as the best healthcare project in the Kingdom in addition to the best renovation and major expansion project in KSA. IHCC highlighted features such as advanced medical infrastructure, efficient space utilisation and seamless expansion integration that distinguished these projects. “Besides a full renovation externally and internally of the existing hospital facilities, this remarkable endeavour included the creation of the impressive Medical Tower, which has been meticulously designed and built to meet the highest standards of healthcare excellence,” Batterjee says.
Looking ahead, IHCC has ambitious growth plans. Batterjee outlines a strategic focus on local manufacturing through entities like IHCC Industries, specialisation via business units, digitisation, and expanding MENA operations.
“IHCC’s key priorities and strategic initiatives for 2024 are centred around sustaining its growth momentum and achieving its goal of becoming one of the top construction groups in the Middle East and Saudi Arabia, all in line with the company’s purpose which is delivering quality projects impacting communities and people within,” he says.
Sustainability is a key focus area for IHCC. The company has successfully delivered numerous projects to LEED Platinum standards, emphasising efficient designs and construction practices. A prime example is IHCC’s string of luxury LEED Platinum resorts developed for Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. To provide specialised sustainability solutions, IHCC established Greener by IHCC – a dedicated business unit for energy efficiency and green building services.
Batterjee says: “Greener by IHCC is a leader in energy efficiency and sustainable building solutions. It provides consultancy services for LEED, WELL, energy auditing, and sustainability solutions. The division also undertakes retro fitting execution projects, helping clients improve the environmental performance of their buildings.”
“IHCC’s vision for expanding its presence and winning more projects in the MENA region in 2024 is grounded in its strong construction expertise. The company’s strong track record, combined with its commitment to exporting local content, positions IHCC as a leading player,” Batterjee concludes.
