For business guests staying on or around the palm, there is a bevvy of appropriate dining options to choose from. But if you want something tasty and slightly different – or simply crave something delicious and traditional – Amala is worthy of your time.
Located in the Jumeirah Zabeel Saray’s grand hall, guests should sit inside if they want authentic Indian décor or outside if they want to make the most of the pleasant weather.
The menu is both authentic and varied – there’s plenty of dishes to keep both meat-eaters and vegetarians happy. Choices include curries, biryanis and meats from the tandoor oven, and the food is beautifully presented. The mixed chaat starter comes with a combination of pastries, with tomatoes, tomato, lentil and savoury vermicelli – all with a substantial kick to them.

As the food is North Indian, expect to try a few dishes that might be at first a little out of your comfort zone. If you’re unfamiliar with the cuisine, the pahhadi murgh tikka (chicken marinated with nuts and cheese) comes well recommended.
Food has flavour but isn’t too hot, and there’s a good number of curries for those who favour food on the mild side. The food comes quick, and the menu is well explained. Staff do an excellent job of making you feel cared for, without overdoing it.
