The next revolution in Tourbillons is here, and it’s a lot cheaper than you might expect.
TAG’s Heuer-02T will be no stranger to watch boffs. It was teased last year and promised to put a Swiss-made tourbillon on the wrist for a previously ‘unheard of’ price of just US$15,000.
Now it’s on boutique shelves, and it’s garnering praise from both serious collectors and the homologically inept. Perhaps that’s because the Heuer-02T is supremely good value for money.
Tourbillons – as one of the pinnacles of fine watchmaking – traditionally cost upwards of US$50,000. The Heuer-02T gets around this through the use of clever manufacturing processes that help drastically reduce both materials and wastage. The result is a movement that is not only quicker to produce but more efficient (each manufacture movement is COSC-certified for precision).
The Carrera case is 45-millimeters wide and built out of Grade 5 titanium. It’s made up of 12 modular components with a 100-metres water resistance. But it is the skeletonized dial that will most impress casual admirers. You can see the movement at both the twelve and three o’clock positions, and it puts the famous tourbillon front-and-centre at six o’clock.
