There are many ways to impress would-be clients when they visit Dubai. You could talk about the expanding property market, take them to some of the most impressive retail spaces in the world, or put them up in one of the finest hotels in the region.

But another, more sure-fire way to impress is to sit them in front of the tallest building in the world. If ever there was a symbol for successful business in the UAE, the Burj Khalifa would be it. Happily, there is one restaurant uniquely suited to this task.

Treehouse, located at the Taj Hotel in Dubai’s bustling business bay district, is just far enough away from the world’s tallest building itself to provide ample views of the Downtown area. A totally new concept, the Taj Hotel employed Georgios Mavroudis – formerly of Armani/Prive fame – to convert the hotel’s rear terrace in to a private lounge.

The results look laid-back but no less impressive, with an open bar set above a beautifully ornate wooden carving. Head there at 2pm on a Friday for a picnic-style lunch (complete with picnic baskets) or for sundowners any day of the week; it’s the perfect place to toast your success.
