Chopard’s latest watch is a testament to the maison’s commitment to sustainability.
The Alpine Eagle supports the environment through the Eagle Wings Foundation, adding another sustainability pillar to the jewellery and watch company that has committed to using only ethical gold in all its jewellery, an initiative it started in 2013 with its Green Carpet Collection.
Alpine Eagle revisits one of its classical timepieces, the St. Moritz watch, the first watch to be designed by Chopard co-president Karl-Friedrich Scheufele in 1980 that was also Chopard’s first sports and steel watch to be made by a company previously focused on diamond and gold pieces.
Elegantly contemporary, its round bezel boasts eight screws grouped in pairs at the four cardinal points. The watch is crafted from Lucent Steel A223, a surgical-grade steel that is ultra-strong, hypoallergenic and boasts a superior brilliance thanks to its high level of purity. The proprietary metal has been forged into a watch available in 41mm or 36mm, each of which houses a COSC-certified movement visible through a sapphire caseback.
Every component has been produced and assembled in house, with the finishing reflecting the legacy and reputation of one of Switzerland’s finest watchmakers.
A stamped brass dial with sunburst motif in galvanic blue or grey takes inspiration from the eagle’s eye and is offset by baton-type hours and minutes hands; the seconds hand features a counterweight shaped like an eagle. chopard.com
