When Artist Renoud Marion was a child in the 1980s, he thought that by the year 2000 everyone would be piloting flying cars. But at the age of 41, his hopes of one day sitting behind the wheel of a floating vehicle had not become a reality. This prompted him to create ‘Air Drive’, a retro-futuristic photo series on flying cars.

These ‘Air Drive’ images are part of a retro-futuristic photo series of flying cars, running from June to September at the MB&F MAD Gallery in Alserkal Avenue, Dubai. The collection is presented on behalf of MAD Gallery and Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons.

According to Marion, “As a child, I imagined the new millennium with flying cars, spaceships, parallel worlds, extra-terrestrials living with us on earth and time travel,” says the photographer. “We would have all been dressed up in space outfits and equipped with laser pistols.” While the vehicles’ levitation most definitely smacks of sci-fi, the cars are in fact modified vintage classics, including Chevrolets, Mercedes, Jaguars, Aston Martins and Porsches. The series of images will be displayed in their entirety at the MB&F MAD Gallery in Alserkal Avenue, in Dubai.
