How do the world’s greatest minds find inspiration? It all starts with a simple morning routine..
Even Mark Zuckerberg – far from the happy-go-lucky coder that The Social Network portrayed him as – needs a little bit of structure in his life. And it starts the moment he wakes up.
Most mornings the 31-year old billionaire founder of Facebook gets out of bed at 8am. He famously wears the same grey T-shirt every day, along with a darker grey hoodie.
According to Zuckerberg, it’s to keep decision fatigue at bay, “I really want to clear my life to make it so I have to make as few decisions as possible.” Zuckerberg admitted at Facebook’s first Q+A session. “I feel like I’m not doing my job if I spend my energy on things that are silly or frivolous in my life.”
Mark Zuckerberg’s dedication to grey hoodies is second only to the ambitious personal challenges he takes on at the start of each year. In 2015, he committed to reading a new book every other week.
In 2011, he pledged to become a vegetarian, and only eat meat if he butchered the animal himself.
He does this, to “take on a personal challenge and learn new things and grow outside my work at Facebook”. This year, Zuckerberg wants to “build a simple AI to run my home and help me with my work. You can think of it kind of like Jarvis in Iron Man”.
