Five minute interview: Alexander Rauser, CEO of Prototype
Five minute interview: Alexander Rauser, CEO of Prototype

How do you describe yourself?

I am quite determined and competitive at times, but also pay a lot of attention to my surroundings and balance it with consideration.

What do others say about you?

Apparently, I don’t take no for an answer, but of course I don’t think that’s true.

What’s your greatest achievement in life?

Prototype is my greatest achievement for sure, but I am also proud of having published a book of which I received better feedback than I would have expected; it shows we can do more than we think.

What is the single largest problem facing your industry today?

The main problem for the digital industry is talent, as the demand for digital solutions is growing faster than the industry can produce talent. This is an area where we need to invest in the most over the coming years.

What inspires you?

Observation, which is becoming more and more difficult for people. Even before smartphones we had to actively train our mind to be able to observe our surroundings. By taking the time to see what’s around me, I can find plenty of inspiration.

What’s one productivity tip you wish everyone else knew?

Google Inbox, allows me to snooze emails and organize my Inbox. There are many other tools like this, but definitively improved my productivity a lot.

How do you make decisions?

I come up with two or more scenarios, I run a quick SWOT analysis in my head and based on that I pick the one that sounded best… something like that, but really, the most important part in making a decision is to actually make a decision.

What makes you get out of bed each day?

I am perceived to jump out of bed, and apparently, I am a morning person. For me sleeping is more of a waste of time than something I enjoy. In my eyes, unless you have an amazing dream, not much exciting happens while you sleep.

Who do you look up to? In life or business?

My mum, she is not a business person, but she taught me the most important things in life when it comes to believing in yourself and in others.

What advice would you give your 18-year old self?
