Don’t let the name confuse; this is no ordinary picnic. Hidden within the towering building blocks of Dubai’s Downtown district, 3-in-1 is a secluded indoor/outdoor restaurant area complete with outdoor cabanas and pool.

The key word here is ‘urban’. Not the traditional sit on the grass and nibble on snacks from a picnic basket type affair (although, baskets are available – mainly to lug all the food from the buffet back to your table), Urban Picnic is brunch re-imagined, and a laid-back alternative to the traditional Friday celebration.

 

Food is a combination of buffet and à la carte options. The aforementioned picnic baskets are used to load up on rustic-looking bread, pastries, cheeses and salads (all served in delectable little pots), before transporting them back to your table.

Main courses are served direct to the table, a mixture of seafood baskets, tiger prawns, steaks, lamb, and curry, served in a traditional Indian tiffin.

Portion-sizes will make you regret indulging so heavily on bread and cheese at the buffet, but all match up to the exacting standards one might expect from a high-end brunch of this nature.

 

For dessert, it’s back once again to the buffet. Like the first courses, expect plenty of options served in mini jars and pots – including panna cotta, cakes, and ice creams – all ready to be loaded back up once again into your picnic basket.
